Madhya Pradesh: BJP leader arrested for ‘provoking’ mob involved in Dhar lynching

The Madhya Pradesh police Thursday arrested a BJP leader for allegedly provoking a mob that killed one and left five injured in Borlai village of Dhar district. BJP leader Ramesh Junapani led the mob that was made to believe that a gang of child-lifters was active in the region, the police said, adding that three others involved in beating up six farmers from Ujjain and Indore districts were also arrested.… A P Singh, the Dhar Superintendent of Police, told The Indian Express that four persons, including the BJP leader, have been arrested and the police were looking for other accused in the Bhil-tribe dominated village.…

UP government to send notices to 58 AMU students for participating in anti-CAA stir

District authorities here have asked the Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) for the home addresses and other details of 58 students to serve them notices over the participation in anti-CAA agitation on the campus. Police said the students had violated restrictions imposed under section 144 of the CrPC, which prevents gatherings of five or more people at a place. Additional city Magistrate Ranjit Singh on Friday said, “Before issuing such notices, we need family details and hence, we want the university to send us the documents.” The notices will be served under section 107 of the CrPC (security for keeping peace).…
