In a display of communal harmony, a group of six Muslim men carried out the last rites of a Hindu man after his own family refused to cremate him over Covid-19 fears.
The family of the 65-year-old, who died on Monday, allegedly refused to cremate him over fears that he could have succumbed to novel coronavirus.
As social stigma shrouds the bodies of Covid-19 patients, many such incidents have come to the fore. Though the local police and councilors tried convincing the family, but their efforts failed. It is then that seven men, identified as Abdul Rabh, Munir, Ishaq, Nasir Ali, Shoaib, Imran, came forward and cremated the man.
