Is press freedom in India under attack?

By Penny Timms on PM with Matt Wordsworth

There are fresh concerns about the state of press freedom in India, following the murder of a high profile journalist this week.

Gauri Lankesh was killed outside her home, in broad daylight, in Bangalore in India’s south.

While no suspects are in custody and no motive has been established, she was known for her critical assessment of extreme Hindu Nationalist politics.

Now, reporters around the world are demanding Indian authorities act, to show that they will not stand for this type of violence.
